http://www.acronymfinder.com/af-query.asp?Acronym=spi

There is probably more to the error message than your summarization of

it. The error may have been recorded in Event Viewer logs.

Where is this log?

I was hoping that in the context of the error message I mentioned SPI

might be meaningful.

thanks

SP1 could be service pack 1.

do a printscreen or ALT+Printscreen. Put the image on

imageshack http://imageshack.us/ or some other image hosting site.

we can then use common sense to determine whether the dialog box is a

standard windows one, or some software.

By seeing th exact message, googling it.

looking at the top of it and seeing if it gives anything so we can

identify what it is..

seeing if we have seen it before.

you could try ctrl-alt-delete, closing/killing/"ending task" processes

and see which one closes that dialog box.

What context? You provided no context at all. There is no way to

know what process is issuing the alert based on what little you said.

Only from the name of this newsgroup can the only context be

determined which is that you are running Windows XP (some version of

it).

You have never heard of the Event Viewer? Use "Start -> Help and

Support" and read up on articles found by searching on "event viewer".

It the Event Viewer is not shown under the Start -> Administrative

Tools menu (because you aren't logged on under an admin-level account

or didn't add it to the Start menu by right-clicking on the Windows

taskbar and customizing it to show), you can run it by entering

"eventvwr.msc" using Start -> Run.
