Guest Larry Scott Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Has anyone attempted to take a virtual machine client created on WS2008 (Hyper-V) and run it on either Windows Server virtual server or Virtual PC 2007? I have made several attempts but all have failed so far. thanks
Guest Bill Grant Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Re: migrate Hyper-V virtual machine to virtual server/virtual PC 2007 Yes, several people have reported doing this (though I can't think why anybody would!) The process is pretty similar to moving from VPC/Virtual Server to Hyper-V. The first thing to do is to remove the Integration Components. (Remove the virtual machine additions going the other way). This must be done before you shut down the vm. You can't do it after you move to the other system. Now copy the vhd file and rename it, and create a new vm using the copied vhd. The vhd structure is compatible between VPC and Hyper-V, the vmc structure is not.
