Personal setting not saving

After I downloaded some updates from Microsoft on March 11 (I think) my

computer resets all my settings. The updates were mostly for Office 2007

(didn't see the other updates closely).

 

This is not the problem. The problem is, the computer keeps reseting the

setting whenever I restart my computer.

 

Apparently, when a program shuts down due to an error, the computer resets

the settings too.

 

There is also this program that runs when I strat a program "verclsid" which

kind of slows down the computer.

 

I tried to do a system restore but the computer doesn't allow me to do so.

 

My pc is a Dell XPS410. in the dxdiag it says XP professional but in my

computer (properties) it says media center 2002.

 

Apparently, the computer reset the settings again while writing this...
