YES.

1) it's (XP) destined for extinction... not a good time to jump on

the bandwagon

2) if you lack SIGNIFICANT field experience in addition to whatever

certificate you will get from such a program, you will have thrown

your money away

Writing XP Certification a waste of time or not?

I am going to a local computer school and can take the XP

Professional Certification and I am wondering if it is a waste of time

or not? I would be interested in other readers thoughts. I could use

it for teaching at local computer classes for Seniors and thing that.

Is it any good for when you are applying for jobs? Your thoughts

appreciated.

IMHO, it's not a waste of time, XP will be around for quite some time, an

education on a stable operating system will benefit you, if nothing else it

will give you a leg up when using other operating system, as you will have

the basics under your belt, just adapt them to a new OS.

Loads of businesses will stick with XP, as they may not be able to afford

Vista, nor wish to update to it.

Windows XP has an incredible installed base of computers. Most if

not all knowledge acquired for XP is in a way transferable to Vista.

Professional accreditation is not always a good indicator of skills but

many jobs require some form of certification. Actually taking a MCP

exam might be a good test of someone's grasp of the material.

Exactly. For an example, there are TONS of Windows 2000 Domains still

out there. Why upgrade when what you have works fine?
