Search for files/folders

I have a curious issue using Windows XP Home Search: when I search for files

with .psa as the extent (a Photoshop Elements file), the search will not find

the file in its "home" location (i.e., where Photoshop Elements stores it).

That location is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application

Data\Adobe\Catalogs. The search does find other .psa files stored in other

locations and a copy of the same file on my external hard drive. To my

knowledge I do not have any options set to hide certain files or file types.

Why would this be?

Thanks.

If you know where it's stored, why are you searching for it???

Basically a good question, but sometimes you may save a file coincidently in

another location and if that happens and you want to find it you're in

trouble. Another thing that bugs me is that search just should work - which

often it doesn't. The solution for the search problem I had came from this

newsgroup in form of a hint to 'Agent Ransack'. Look for it on the internet,

download it - it's free and it's great!

Well, not having them hidden AND actually having "search" look in system

folders are two different things. So, check you search settings too.

Indeed, Windows exlporer is a right pain.

In the main, I use ACDSee for all my shuffling of files,

when you right click a file, and move it, the destination file

remains highlighted (explorer does not) and any tremors

in the mouse in explorer, you can send your files to the wrong destination.

Yep a big tick for Agent ransack.
