Just as a matter of curiosity, it was not easy...but I managed to get a few

screen captures

of Win98 during the installation process. I have always been interested in

the mechanism behind the scenes.

It appears I got the device enumeration process.

If anyone has a way to get a screen capture of XP during the installation

itself,

I'd be interested.

Yes, the dates and file size all appear as corrupt...

as they are not actual files or folders...I have merely captured the

dynamics of an enumerative process.

Simply perform the WinXP installation to a virtual machine hosted on

another OS.

Thanks for the reply...I have used a virtual machine and have been able to

get screen shots of operating systems being installed.

Note, however that the Win98 installation I have captured is a look from

either windows explorer or file manager

and is not a simple screen shot of the installation itself. It's a 'behind

the scenes' view not normally possible to look at.
