schrauber Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Reformat and reinstall is always an option :). Then you will have maybe 16 BG of free space. BUT: I would think about a new or an extra harddrive ( or an external one ), because 26 GB of disk space is really not much. mikeywikey Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Do I assume then that this is not a virus, but the hard drive packing up? What I cannot understand is that my partner has the same problem with her laptop at the same time. Surely this is too coincidental? Quote
schrauber Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Hi there, sorry for the delay, lying down with a flue again. I could not see anything malicious on your system, but please try this: Open OTL, set the extra registry tab to use safe list, and set the scan time up to 90 days, and hit the run scan button. Post back with the 2 logfiles and I will have a look :). mikeywikey Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 I eventually got my computer man to come out to see if he could resolve the problem. As soon as he saw that my laptop was an Acer he understood what the problem was. I understand Acer's split the hard drive into 2 compartments ... 'C' drive and 'D' drive. Yes, the 'C' drive was full but the 'D' drive virtually empty. He has now taken the laptop away to reformat the drives into one 'C' drive ... the end result will be that the 'C' drive will only be half full (or half empty!!). So unfortunately you were unable to resolve my problem this time ... but thanks for trying! Quote
