Renew Enterprise Root CA Certificate

I need to extend the validity of my enterprise root certificate and my

subordinate CA certificate server. How do I extend the valid date of the

root? If I do this, will it make any certificates that have been issued

invalid? My entire Exchange 2007 system is running with the self-signed

certs issued by my subordinate CA server and if they expire, I think I'll

have a HUGE issue on my hands.

 

I'm running Win2k3 CA services on two servers. One is the Enterprise root

CA and the other is the subordinate CA. The root expires next year, but I

had better get this done the sooner the better.

 

In a nutshell, how do I extend/renew the root certificate and will it cause

me any issues with certificates already issued.
