My problem is my sound,

Ive installed the drivers correctly, checked the hardware panel for any X's or ?'s

everything seems fine

HOWEVER.

when i try to play a music file

the file plays, there are no errors stated, i just carn't hear anything.

My Sound card is onboard.

ive checked my speakers, by using them on a different audio device, they work fine

ive also tried headphones,(also tested on a different audo device) they also work fine.

ive checked my mixer(sndvol32)everything's as expected.

Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to FPCH Exploit. :)

Does the slider move when you try to play a song in a media player? Do other sounds work such as the Windows logon tune, logoff tune, error prompts, etc.?

Hello Exploit. I have an onboard sound card too and I too experience the problem often. I don't know how to fix it yet but mostly it is caused when the contact is not right. Try opening the CPU and correct any loose contacts and see if it helps or not.

Hi, in that drop down menu, select the "Realtek HD Audio Output", then click OK. It may be that the wrong thing was selected.

Let us know if that turns your sound on, don't worry about the number of options on that list, it is standard so the software can be used with all types of sound chips.

Thanks for the update, sometimes an added sound card can be the quick solution.
