using a laptop as a monitor

I am slowly transferring images and files from my old computer to my new one.

Problem is I would like to be able to see what is on my old machine by using my laptop as a monitor I do not know how to go about connecting it any help please.

 

Idea is main monitor sees new machine

laptop sees old computer.

Hi BOB.What you want to do isn't going to work for many reasons.

Only solution I can see is buy a KVM Switch instead of trying to use your Laptop.

I use a KVM Switch, between my 2 Computer Towers.

My older desktop Computer, and my New Computer.

Just means you only need 1 Monitor,Keyboard and Mouse, to view the contents of both Towers, with this Switch.

Thank you gentlemen I am now using 2 monitors a 2 mices and 2 keyboards will only be for a few weeks until I am happy with the movement of all my photos etc

Hi Bob, at least you got sorted, where did you find the second monitor? or was it an old one you had forgotten you had:D

 

I will shortly have a similar problem when I get the new W7 machine I am promising myself, however I already have a spare monitor from when I upgraded to the massive 22 inch I now use.

Talk about a sledge to crack a walnut. I use out tv monitor for a few days. All seems well now. Lots of little surprises in W7 mostly good. Hope you get the comp you want soon.

my boss is too tight to buy me one, and I won't because I am too tight to buy something I have little use for. :D

I could not be bothered with mobiles in fact the times I nearly flung the old one I had away is nobody's business.

Last year my brother started sending me photos from his mobile phone. I was surprised at the reasonable quality of them and thought I must have a look at these new fangled things.

Now I am hooked.Well its hooked to my belt ready for a quick photo if one presents its self.

I dont call it a mobile phone ITS MY MOBILE CAMERA if it rings and it very rarely does thank God I answer my MOBILE CAMERA.:mad::mad:

BTW would appreciate you making some comment on the mobile photos posted on the OLD ONES SITE.
