How do you add a 'screen saver' file to XP?

I believe it is fairly simple: save the *.scr file to the Windows folder or

the windows/system32 folder (not sure). That will make it come up in the

Display Properties > Screensaver drop down list.

 

The screensaver might otherwise come with an installer, so you'd run that

and let it install to where it is set to.

I have been downloading screensavers from all sorts of sites and have simply

put them in a file in Programs labeled "screensavers". They also seem to end

up in Windows in system 32. These DO have installers with them though.

That's why they got to the right place. Having a copy elsewhere is

just wasting disk space.
