TS Licensing....Confused

Here's my dilemma....

We have a Win2K TS which has about 5 people connected at any one given

time. I get a message stating that I am about to exceed my maximum

concurrent connections. However, how do I tell how many TS licenses I

have? I went into "licensing" in admin. tools on that particular

server. I don't see anything specifically related to TS licensing.

Any help for the clueless?

As a follow up to my previous post....

I checked the DC (Win2K3) and found TS Licensing on there. However,

under servers I don't see that particular server even listed there.

Most of my users connect to our public IP from different machines. So

this per seat thing has me kind of confused. Also, why doesn't that

particular TS server even come up?

The significant word in your first post is "concurrent". TS

licensing is never per concurrent connection, but server-client

licensing is.

So the warning that you received has most likely nothing to do with

TS CALs, it is about normal server CALs. You can check those in the

Licensing applet in Control Panel.

And about the TS Licensing manager on your DC: your Terminal Server

is not supposed to show up here. What you should see in the TS LS

Manager is the type and number of installed licenses on the DC, and

how many of them are available and issued. For the issued ones, you

can see to which clients they are issued.

That makes sense. Thanks for the reply. So if I understand this

correctly the system doesn't give a fig about the amount of users just

the amount of systems connecting to that server? We have an SBS2003

box that has licenses per user. Is it possible that the TS has its own

licensing regardless of the SBS2003?

You should take this discussion to the SBS newsgroup, since SBS

licensing is special. Check the Licensing applet on both the TS and

(I assume) the SBS to see the licensing mode of both servers.

Here are a lot of licensing Q&A's about SBS and TS:
