Laptop, and its been brill since he got it last xmas - but now when he turns it on its bust , Firstly it started out saying "No boot disc or No disk inserted" So we turned it off and back on and it worked for 5 mins ,then it just gave up the ghost all together and had just a blank screen , and now it just sits there with COMPAQ written on the screen and wont do nowt !!!!!! I sugested opening the disk draw and squirting loads and loads of fairy liquid in , but he thought someone on here might be able to help ????? Its got a NORTON running on it coz we bought that at the same time - errrr its Black has a 15 inch screen and cost about £350 quid from comet Buy COMPAQ CQ61-402 | 15.6" widescreen laptop - Laptops | Comet They said just bring it back and they,d be pleased to sort it but ...today is Good Friday so you know as well as I do that it,ll just sit there until next tuesday when some spotty geek will send it off to get a new hard drive fitted, and it,ll be gone for a month , I JUST WONDERED IF ANYONE HAD A PROPPER FIX THAT,LL LEAVE HIM WITH SOMETHING HE CAN PLAY / SURF ON OVER THE EASTER HOLS OOps hit caps lock , soz - and not mean a full re-boot and loosing his homework and norton. Jelly Bean Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Well I dont understand the washing up liquid choice if you could explain this thought please? As this would just break the laptop. If the laptop is still under warrantee it should realy go back to the shop for repair. Try entering BIOS/Setup and load default settings and see if that helps. It is possible your hard drive iis broken. But as I said if it is under warrantee I do not recommend taking it apart due to it will then be void. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
twedspeed Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Thanx Jelly Bean - will give it a try , Am more than happy to take it back to the shop, but like I said Easter weekend and all that - Dont worry I,d never dream of takin it apart , not sure where you got that notion from? . R.E. the "fairy liquid" thing - lets just see if anyone recognises the reference hint ( 80,s sitcoms ) Quote
