Guest Daniel Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Hello, I cannot launch any MMCs from the command prompt, run box, or by going into the system32 folder. Everytime I try I get the following error box. "Current policies prevent instances of MMC invoced from scrips from opening in author mode" Does anybody know how I can change this? I cannot even open them as the Administrator account. Thanks

Guest Meinolf Weber Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Re: Can't run MMCs Hello Daniel, Check out this registry key and remember that modifying the registry can harm your system: HKCU\software\policies\microsoft\mmc there should be a DWORD value labeled RestrictAuthorMode with value of 1. change this to 0 and MMC should now work. Also have a look here, even it is 2000: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271135 Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm > I am using a domain administrator account on a domain controller > > "Meinolf Weber" <meiweb(nospam)@gmx.de> wrote in message > news:ff16fb66924018ca58269eb0adae@msnews.microsoft.com... > >> Hello Daniel, >> >> Local administrator on member server or domain controller and domain >> administrator? >> >> Best regards >> >> Meinolf Weber >> Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and >> confers no rights. >> ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups >> ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm >>> Hello, >>> >>> I cannot launch any MMCs from the command prompt, run box, or by >>> going into the system32 folder.
