Hello,

I cannot launch any MMCs from the command prompt, run box, or by going into

the system32 folder. Everytime I try I get the following error box.

"Current policies prevent instances of MMC invoced from scrips from opening

in author mode"

Does anybody know how I can change this? I cannot even open them as the

Administrator account.

Thanks

Re: Can't run MMCs

Hello Daniel,

Check out this registry key and remember that modifying the registry can

harm your system:

HKCU\software\policies\microsoft\mmc there should be a DWORD value labeled

RestrictAuthorMode with value of 1. change this to 0 and MMC should now work.

Also have a look here, even it is 2000:

Do you already have the MMC roll-up installed? It might help.
