Vista RDP client won't remember credentials for Win2000

I'm using RDP to administer a number of servers (win2000 and 2003).

Some are local, some over VPN connections, but the RDP client shouldn't be

able to tell the difference (it's always connecting to a 10.* IP address).

When I connect to a Win2003 server, I only have to specify my credentials

once and tick the "remember my credentials" box, this works as expected.

When I connect to a Win2000 box I do everything exactly the same, but it

ignores the "remember credentials" checkbox: I have to enter domain,

username and password all over again each time I want to connect.

When I look at (right click/edit) the RDP file for a win2003 server after

connecting to it once, the saved credentials are shown and can be edited.

For a Win2000 server, it just keeps saying "you will be promped for

credentials when you connect", no matter how often I've logged on to it.

Is there a way to make this work the same for 2000 as for 2003?

On the 2000 server: Administrative Tools -> Terminal Services Configuration

-> Connections -> (right-click) TDP-Tcp -> Logon Settings (tab)

Is Always prompt for password checked?

No.

I should have mentioned that the problem only exists when connecting from a

Vista client, not from XP with the new Vista-style RDP client (or anything

older).

The password prompt that won't remember credentials is the one that appears

_before_ the connection is made, not the logon prompt at the remote server.
