5375z aspire laptop freezes

Hi, Im feeling really quite frustrated with my laptop. It had winows vista on it and then we upgraded to windows 7 recently. It was working perfectly ok, turned it off, turned it back on and it starts loading but then freezes. I tried going into safe mode with and without networking, but it still freezes. My son recently downloaded a photoshop application and I wonder if that could be whats causing the problem. I have tried to get into add and remove programs, but before I can get into it it freezes. I have tried system restore, but the points have been turned off! Any ideas would be really appreciated, the desk top works but its not as good!

If it will go into at least the start page for safemode, have you tried the "Last Known Good configuration"? or does it freeze before you can get there?
