Guest Daniele Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Hi there, i'm using windows 2003 ent SP2 (not R2) with disk quota implemented. The customer wants me to have a warning message to be displayed for the users when they are near to their threshold. Is that possible with a windows builtin feature? As far as i know it's only possible to log an entry in the server's event viewer. Can u please help me ? Thanks in advance.
Guest Jabez Gan [MVP] Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Re: Warning disk quota for end users Hey Daniele, Built in - that won't be possible. But if your client is willing to upgrade to Win2008, then you can setup an event based task and the task will send a message to the client telling them that their folder is full. You can easily script this. -- Jabez Gan Microsoft MVP: Windows Server http://www.msblog.org "Daniele" <Daniele@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:60556B2A-8D5B-42BD-A1F3-5E82FC961833@microsoft.com... > Hi there, > > i'm using windows 2003 ent SP2 (not R2) with disk quota implemented. > The customer wants me to have a warning message to be displayed for the > users when they are near to their threshold. > Is that possible with a windows builtin feature? > As far as i know it's only possible to log an entry in the server's event > viewer. > > Can u please help me ? > > Thanks in advance.
Guest lforbes Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 RE: Warning disk quota for end users Hi, It is not possible within the OS even with R2. I don't like the R2 Quota manager because of the severe limitations. I still use the Disk managment one. However, when you set the quotas, the disk amount left actually shows up in My Computer. I always teach my users to look there. Also, I have 2500 users but check my quotas about once a week. If users are getting too full I either increase their quota or send them a notice.
