samiem Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 hello..there are you using the recovery centre? How to use VAIO Recovery Center : Useful Information : Sony Asia Pacific specifically the restore C drive option How to use VAIO Recovery Center : Useful Information : Sony Asia Pacific hello.. thanks for your help... Ummmm..i was thinking of formatting my laptop and using then same OS because i have lots of problems..,.. so can u help me to format my laptop by using the "PRODUCT KEY" at the back of the laptop...the main important thing is that i don't have the Original CD for my laptop. thanks you once again Samiem Quote
Match Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 i was thinking of formatting my laptop and using then same OS because i have lots of problemsOn most pre built PC's nowadays you will find they have a recovery partition, this will contain an Image of the C drive, with Windows installed on it, and a number of tools to repair the windows installation. if you use this partition as described in the second of the links in my previous post you will reset the C Drive to the same state it was in when it left the factory, Their should be no need to Format or enter any Keys i don't have the Original CD for my laptopThat's because their never was, the first thing you should do with a new PC is read the manual on how to create a recovery CD/DVD and follow the instructions. In your first post you said i formatted my Sony vaio (vista home premium) and installed all its drivers except INTEL GRAPHICSIf you did not use the recovery Disks or Console the product Key on the back of the machine won't work as its to a different copy of windows, also with pre built machines especially Laptops and netbooks they have drivers that are specific to the machine, and if you use a copy of windows that wasn't supplied with the machine you will have the problems you are describing. what I suggest is when you boot the machine keep pressing the f10 key hopefully if you haven't damaged the recovery partition this will take you to the recovery partition where you should be able to follow the instructions I posted in the second link. samiem Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 here is a step by step how to Sony VAIO Recovery hello.. actually i searched a lot but didn't find "Sony vaio recovery".what shall i do now? Samiem Quote
Match Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Did you try this way? When you see the VAIO logo at boot, press the F10 key several times If so can you goto your disk management (Open start in search Box type disk management and press return) your drive should have a 9 to 11Gb partition showing, that won't show in "My computer" if that's missing then when you formatted the Hard Drive you have probably damaged it. (screen shot appreciated). and we will go from their :) Quote

Tootech Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Reading through the thread, and considering you have used a non Sony install DVD to install Windows I think the chances of recovery are slim to none. You have probably wiped out the recovery partition on your hard drive, and even if you left it in tact when you reinstalled it won't work anyway. Installing Windows on the drive will have changed the boot manager meaning your recovery program wouldn't work anyway. The best way to deal with it is to contact Sony and order a new Recovery DVD set. That way you will have the correct version for your computer and all of your drivers and software will work as they should. Quote
samiem Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 new probem................!.............. hello Match.. Thanks or your help and support.. Samiem hello everyone. Actually my function keys (Fn) are not working except for the few ones like keys for volume.... what shall i do? Is it due to drivers problem Please help......... Samiem.. Quote
RandyL Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Keyboard issues are not a driver problem. As this is a laptop and considering your issues I'm inclined to agree with Tootech. Get the recovery disks from Sony. If a complete reinstall does not solve the problem then there is a problem with the laptop itself. Unfortunately laptop repair can be expensive but if there is a physical problem with it it's usually best to take it to a shop or replace it. Quote We are all members helping other members.
