On IE Explorer I cannot launch the Java Console?

At the Java web-page I cannot check to see if I have the correct version as

it simply closes IE when I click to check it.

Can I Uninstall the below programs and then what Java program do I install

for 32 bit XP-Media? I have spent the day looking at Sun's page and I still

do not know what to install. Thank you so much.

Add/Remove Programs for JAVA I show

You can uninstall that version of Java. If you want to download the latest

version, go to this page and download the Windows Offline Installation package.

Java SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 5

Good luck

Re: Java Total Confusion

Thank you very much. I finally gave up and called Tech Support.

Actually, I had to uninstall both of the following:

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6 and

Java SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 5

Then install Java 6 update 5 only and all works well.

Apparently, I had a conflict with above two or they were the wrong program.

I am not real sure. But I work now and my IE does not close on me and I can

display

the Java pages that I was blown out of. I could not even open the Sun

Console.

Thank you very much for your effort I do really appreciate it and quite

possibly this will

help someone else.

Re: Java Total Confusion

I wanted to check back and describe a further conflict. If I sign into

Windows Instant Messaging

the Java will not display streaming video. My system worked great until I

signed on and then

Java errored on the live stream. Apparently, there is a conflict with IM

drivers.

My error is a runtime error. So, if I want to watch Java streaming video I

cannot sign on to IM.

I have spent at least 3 days and many tech calls to finally narrow this

problem down. I hope it

helps some else.
