Asked to Restart EVERY Time I Start

The machine is a Dell Dimension 3000

Running XP Pro

Genuine product - fully updated

Norton AV 2006

Common "everybody can use" office resource machine.

Every time the system is Started/Restarted, a little gray box pops up after

the desktop loads saying "The computer must be restarted before updating can

continue."

There isn't anything "extra" running at startup (removed all but essentials

using msconfig - and I know what should/should not be pulled); The system has

tested free of spyware and viruses; there aren't any errors or warnings that

can point the way in the event logs; and the system will work normally if

'No' is clicked to get out of the gray box.

Of course if you click 'Yes' in the gray box the system restarts and just

asks the same question again.

Any ideas on why the box pops up EVERY restart or how to disable it? I am

guessing there is a reg edit, but I am not sure where to look.

Thanks folks! :)
