Hi.

Just turned pc on, its an emachines about 5yrs old from pc world running XP.

All I've got is wingdings or similar for a font! Running an AVG scan at mo only because I know where the clicks are! I can't read anything in any menu or window and it won't go online!!!

I expect this has been a thread before but I need help....

Any help much appreciated.

It's possible that malware has taken over. Have you tried safemode or System Restore?

I've tried safe mode and its the same, just a load of wingdings etc. Same with restore!

Looks like an excuse to buy a new pc!!

Don't give up. There are many fine people on this forum willing to help.

 

Type "%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" without the quotes in the Run box. This will start System Restore.

Watch this video for ways to get to it and how to use it since you can't read the wingding font.

Even with that font you should be able to type and with the video navigate. Give it a try.
