Strange Event Viewer Entry

Windows XP Media Center Edition, SP2

Event Source: Service Control Manager

Event ID: 7000

Event Description: The kirjtkkd72c8-36fa service failed to start due

to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.

Does anyone know what the "kirjtkkd72c8-36fa" service is? It is not

listed in Services Manager nor can I find any file that comes close to

that name on the HDD. Thanks.

Search the registry for kirjtkkd72c8-36fa, if this error is hapenning

when the computer boots you will probably find it in the Services branch

of the Control Sets.

Re: Strange Event Viewer Entry

Duh! I had completely overlooked searching the registry! Too many

hours the past couple of days. I did the search, found several

entries, and deleted same. No more Event Viewer errors from that

culprit. Thanks, John.
