Guest steve_t Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 I have a small network (2 DCs running Server 2003, 10 XP workstations). Recently, a few people have had to select the Log off option twice in order to actually log off. The first time, they are prompted w/the standard "Are you sure you want to log off?" question, but even when clicking Yes, they stay logged in. They have to do the process a second time in order to successfully log off. This doesn't happen with every user, but for the ones who are affected, it happens every time. TIA for any ideas.
Guest Dave Patrick Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Re: Multiple logoffs required Try a diagnostic startup (msconfig) with no non-microsoft services and applications. There is some app that hangs at logoff. -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. Guest steve_t Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Re: Multiple logoffs required Thanks for the suggestion. I was reviewing the event logs and noticed that auditing was not configured for successful logon/logoff events, so I modified Group Policy and rebooted the system. When I went to logoff to see if any events were generated, I logged off on the first attempt. One other user who had been having the problem happened to be in this weekend, and she also logged off right away after a reboot. Not sure how or why that one change appeared to have fixed it, but I'll find out for sure next week when the rest of the crew comes in. If anyone still has a problem, I'll try the msconfig option. Thanks again. Steve "Dave Patrick" wrote: > Try a diagnostic startup (msconfig) with no non-microsoft services and > applications. Guest lforbes Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 RE: Multiple logoffs required Hi, There is an application hanging on logoff. More than likely it is Adobe Reader. I have that happen quite a bit when they open a PDF while in Internet explorer. If you are there with a user - try hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del and running task manager. View what is listed under the username and see if there are any applications running that shouldn't be. Cheers, Lara "steve_t" wrote: > I have a small network (2 DCs running Server 2003, 10 XP workstations). > Recently, a few people have had to select the Log off option twice in order > to actually log off.
