timdalton Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I recently bought a Mikomi DC-7120 Web Cam but am unable to get the thing to work! I've installed the cd several times and followed the prompts but on the system part of my control panel I have a an exclamation mark saying that I need to install the relavant drivers and .inf files. The computer recognises the camera as a USB 2.0 1.3MP UVC Camera but am unable to find the relevant files on the web. I do an advance search for the drivers and put the cd as the target, but it says the drivers can't be found. I copied the CD onto the hard drive it still says the same thing. Can I assume that the operating system is simply too old. Any ideas would be appreciated! Quote
RandyL Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 This is hard to figure out. What little I can find on that model says it's 5mp not 1.3mp. All of the 5mp ones I found do not support ME. Also are you sure you have USB2. With an OS that old you might only have USB1. If this is your camera then it uses USB1 and does support ME so it should work. If it's any other you might be out of luck. Buy Mikomi 1.3Mp Laptop Webcam. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for . Correction. I found this one. timdalton Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 Thanks for the quick reply. I have found 3 webcams which will hopefully work on my PC. To use mainly as a webcam and not for stills which one would would you buy? Some of the specs are the same but is there a feature that stands out to anyone? RandyL Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I would like to have recommended the Logitech because you would be dealing with a real name brand company. They actually exist so there would be real support options. Unfortunately that webcam is for Vista and Windows 7 only. The other two say they will work on Windows 98 or newer. But keep in mind there is no support options for them because there is no actual company. It's just a name they slap on them. Quote We are all members helping other members. timdalton Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 Web Cam Advice What features are the most important when considering buying a webcam? Interpolated Video Resolution Interpolated Still Resolution Real Video Resolution Still Video Resolution Video Capture I have seen 2 what will work with Windows ME. This will by my 1st webcam purchase so have no idea of what the quality will be like. I want to be able to see the other person at the other end and not loads of pixelated blocks! The cheaper option has a lot better interpolated specs but is that really important? If there's another webcam under £30 which anyone would recommend then please let me know. If not which one would you buy?! Jelly Bean Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Firstly you should not make multiple threads on the forum on the same subject. However the make of webcam in my opinion I would not touch this make of cam.Cheap and nasty and to gain faults is sure to happen. Your better off buying a good branded one like Logitech.
