Guest David Walker Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 I just did a test install of Windows server 2003 on a system that I'm going to upgrade (soon) from 2000 server to 2003 server. I did a clean install into a new partition. The CD say "Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition". There is Disc 1 and Disc 2. Disc 1 has a part number of X11-73011. When I installed the software and the system rebooted, Control Panel/System (along with the boot splash screen) tell me that I have Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. Is this a known confusion of the versions? I searched Google but didn't find anything relevant. If Control Panel/System tells me that I have Enterprise Edition, is this the version I really have? The CDs AND the COA are apparently mislabeled! The COA with the 25-character product key says "Windows Svr Std 2003 R2 1- 4CPU 5Clt" (OEM Software). That sounds like standard edition to me. Thanks for any insight on this strangeness. David Walker
Guest Paul Weterings Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Re: Edition of Server 2003? It sure sounds like a mixup.. One simple way to check would be to run the 'systeminfo' command from the command prompt, which should tell you exactly what version you have... The product code you supplied is indeed a UK STD version (5 user license) / ) Regards, / /_________ _|__|__) Paul Weterings / (O_) __/ (O_) ____(O_) David Walker wrote: > I just did a test install of Windows server 2003 on a system that I'm going > to upgrade (soon) from 2000 server to 2003 server. > > I did a clean install into a new partition. > > The CD say "Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition".
