Server 2008 - Installing non-TS CALs

Potentially silly question, but I haven't seen this addressed.

I have 250 CALs purchased. Where do I tell Server 2008 that I have these

CALs? These aren't for Terminal Services, just for people on my internal

network to access the server.

My 2003 Server has an applet off the Control Panel, I don't see the same

thing in 2008.

Hello jebtech,

You just have to buy the licenses, there is no installing for it. The server

runs Per Seat mode i assume.

That's what I was leaning towards, but thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Windows 2008 - more questions on non-TS CALs

Windows 2008 - more questions on non-TS CALs

1. How can you determine what licensing mode was selected during install - per server, or per device, or per seat.

2. How do you switch between per server to per device or per seat.

It was easy to do in previous versions of Windows Server. I have spent hours trying to figure this out. :-((

Hi Barry,

This tip may help you -

http://www.insidetheregistry.com/regtips/viewtip.asp?tipid=1007 - that is

I'm assuming your talking about Terminal Services ?

1. To find out which licensing mode was used, read the registry key

2. To change the license mode, change the registry key

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Jon
