Windows Media Player 11 CD Playback

Hi there,

I've got a 2-year old Dell Dimenson 1100, which does everything I

want. I recently went to play a CD on the dvd drive, and the playback

is awful, with some kind of "popping" sound. I've uploaded an example

here:

http://cid-320da9eb83fa4634.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/CD%20Drive%20Example?uc=1

I've checked inside, the CD drive isn't on the same IDE slot as the

harddrive. The CPU and VM size are normal during playback. Only

during ripping does the CPU go crazy.

mp3 playback is fine. no unwanted sounds there.

So I guess it must be the dvd player, which is annoying, as I've

rarely used it.

DVD drives are relatively cheap these days, will I have to upgrade to

ensure good playback?

Regards,

Phil

I would first go to Dell http://www.dell.com/, login to my account, and see

what updates are available.

Re: Windows Media Player 11 CD Playback

Hi there,

checked up on dell.com and got some updates, but none seemed to have

helped, despite updating audio drivers and the like.

Thanks anyway,

Phil
