Screen Resolution Question

I am confused about how to adjust my screen resolution. When I change it,

the desk top icons go ka-flooie! I use adaptive software (Dragon, ZoomText,

Kurzweil, etc), and that may impact what I select, however, I've found going

back to Windows Classic overall has been a great improvement.

Now, I have a lower resolution, but the desktop icons are all over the

place, except for the right-hand side of my monitor...a HP 1940.

I have XP Pro, and use OE6 - all updates current. Thank you very much, and

happy spring.

Re: Screen Resolution Question

Is this an unreasonable, or inappropriate query for this NG?

The problem, I think, lies in that fact that you've not posed any sort

of query, whatsoever. You've merely stated that you're confused by the

results of your own actions.

(And that your original post makes very little or no sense, at all.

Probably no one knows what you're trying to say.)

If you downscale the resolution on a monitor, the icons that normally

fit the old one have to be moved to get them on the screen. I don't

think you want windows to position them off the screen do you?

Thus it rearranges the desktop. Is that what you mean?

If so, its expected!

Re: Screen Resolution Question

Yes, I'm a blind user, but need to be able to scan the Desk top with cursor

to have my screen reader identify the primary icons for me.

I was told it's better to have a small resolution, so tried it, and, well,

that's what happened. I felt I needed to understand it's application better.

Thank you.

I have a widescreen laptop with a standard 4:3 LCD, and if I take the

laptop on the road for days or weeks and get everything setup and

working for the widescreen, then come back to the office and connect the

LCD I get my screen all jumbled. Only once did I get icons off the

desk.

Please (everybody), don't respond to my example. I left work 6 months

ago (retired) and the problem is gone now.

The questions in my previous msg was more rhetorical I guess. But

admittedly if you are blind its a huge issue. My mother-in-law is

blink but never got to use a gui program due to the speech program etc

she likes in Windows 3.1. That or it boots into DOS, got me. I know

she uses a computer and can't see. All the power to you.
