Guest Robert Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I realize this group doesn't deal with this but please bear with me. I have a Dell Dimension 8200 SP2 with XP, a 140gb hard drive with 132gb free space and 1024 RAM and Jedi Knight, Jedi Academy is the only game I have installed on my system. Recently, I decided to uninstall it which I did, or thought so. However when I check the Add/Remove programs it's still there. I checked the Recycle bin and there was a Jedi folder there so I clicked restore, but the problem is that it won;t let me do anything now. Whenever I insert the disk it gives me this message: Assertion Failed:" LecSetup_GetSetup(g_Env["DataDir"],&m_plecSetup)"! File: Source\lfx_System.cpp Line: 231 Abnormal Termination. Select Retry for environment dump. When I go back into Add/Remove proframs and try to remove it it says: An installation support file could not be installed. The System cannot find the file specified. I have removed it from my system before and didn't encounter any of these problems. Can anyone help me either to restore it or to remove it from my system? Thanks, Robert

There any number of utilities that will do what you want. Download and install CCleaner. Look under the TOOLS area

Better to find someone who knows a reputable product. Did you even LOOK at any of the entries in the list I provided, you idiot?

The System cannot find the file specified. I just tried it again and now it says: This will remove the uninstall entry from the registry. It will not uninstall the application. Are you sure you want to do this? I clicked cancel. I want to uninstall the program or restore it and I can't do either! Robert

You said that you DID uninstall it... and that the entry was still there. Did you try the uninstaller the other replier suggested? If that doesn't work, you could always go into the registry and look for every entry for "Jedi" or "Jedi Academy"... and take your chances deleting those entries. When you're all done, if the entry is STILL there, then delete it from the listing.

Thanks but I don't like playing 'Russian Roulette' with my system registry. Robert

If you don't know what you're doing, then it's probably better that you don't play with it. I'm comfy doing that.

I'm comfy doing that. Yes I did try unistalling and it gives me this: An installation support file could not be installed. The System cannot find the file specified. No matter what I try to do to either uninstall or re-install or run the game, and delete with CCleaner I keep getting error messages and nothing works. I've posted this in other groups as well and no one seems to have an answer. Robert

Too Cool I then went into Add/Remove to delete Smarty Uninstaller since I felt I didn't need it anymore. It came back saying it couldn't delete everything but that I could do so manually, which I did. I appreciate everyones help and just knew I would find the solution here. Again, many thanks, Robert
