I have an XP OS (SP2), Trying to set up a static IP address in Network Connections. Open Adapter Properties, Select TCP/IP Properties, Select "Use the following IP address", Change IP address/Subnet/Gateway/DSN, Click OK, Click Close on Adapter. This should save the settings I just entered.

Although, when I reboot the PC and/or open TCP/IP properties to verify my settings. The properties for the adapter (TCP/IP) are changed back to "obtain an IP address automatically”.

I believe the “use the following IP address should remain selected until I change it. This happens whether I am connected to a network or not.

Has anyone every experienced this, If so how can I fix it to remain on a static IP address (“use the following IP address”).

Please Help.
