Re: Temp Files in Windows folder

My mind has gone AWOL on me.....but wait for Mike or Mart in the

morning.....haven't seen this problem for a LONG time. Just a minor

thing, but for the life of me, I can't remember what causes it. They

won't harm your computer, but will sure take over your HD space.....

Cheers......Heather

Alan

I think this is as a result an old Power Point(office 97)

Q221438 refers to file Mdm.exe. This file is not installed

on my hd but the reference exists in the registry in the

keys

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer

Bars\{C4EE31F3-4768-11D2-BE5C-00A0C9A83DA1}]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer

"002"="NVCPLDAEMON"

"003"="NWIZ"

"004"="Winimage.exe"

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer

"002"="NVCPLDAEMON"

"003"="NWIZ"

"004"="Winimage.exe"

Any further advice? I mean to delete the reference?

Re: Temp Files in Windows folder

AAH,

The Registry MRU keys containing those strings are there because you have

searched for the strings, that is mdm.exe and

fffd195b_{0BC73C3A-5BE4-433E-8BC4-55801AAD9FC6}.tmp. These keys have

nothing to do with your problem.

When you searched for mdm.exe did you check the contents of the folder

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG (if present) which

is one of the place mdm.exe can hide itself. On occasion disabling script

debugging in Internet Explorer has been reported to stop the production of

the unwanted fff*.tmp files in the Windows folder [in Internet Explorer,

go Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and make certain that "Disable

script debugging" is checked in the "Browsing" section]
