Updating applications on Server 2003

I do not have alot of experience with networking but have been asked to

manage a Windows Server 2003 network. My problem at the moment is updating

some of the server based software such as Adobe Reader Ver 5.0. Wondering

what the best way to do this was?

 

Also how to load software applications to the network from the server.

Hello Newatit,

 

Is the server a Terminal server? If not just download the new Adobe and install

it. That's all. For client installation you can use a GPO with the softwaredistribution,

but you need for deploying .msi files or .zap, which is an older version.

If you are deploying on a terminal server, please make sure to add any

software though the 'add remove software' tool in the control panel.

 

How many systems are we talking about? Sometimes it's less effort to

simply 'walk the systems' rather than doing a Group Policy deployment

(of course the last one is more fun!)
