layler Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Hi There. Not sure if this is the right place to place this question wondered if somebody could help with the following query. I HAVE A SAMSUNG CAMCORDER WHICH USES THE MINI DVD DISCS WHICH ARE 30 MIN DISCS. I AM TRYING TO FIND A WAY OF PUTTING THEM ONTO ONE DISC. FOR EXAMPLE WHEN I GO ON HOLIDAY I GENERALLY USE 2 DISCS BUT WANT TO SOMEHOW TRANSFER THEM TO A SINGLE DISC IF THIS MAKES SENSE! WILL I NEED TO BUY SOME SOFTWARE OR IS THERE A FREE DOWNLOAD SITE THAT I COULD USE TO TRY AND DO THIS? THANKS LAYLER Quote
RandyL Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 What ever you use to put 60 minutes on to a 30 minute disk is probably going to greatly reduce the video quality. What is the file type on the disks? Plastic Nev Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Hi, if what you mean is to copy the file from the mini disk onto your computer, then burn a multiple of these mini disk files to a full size DVD disk, then you will need some form of ripper/burner software. There is fortunately quite a lot of freeware available that can do this. Here is a ripper program that at least will be a start, so you can take the file onboard your computer. DVDSmith Movie Backup: DVD Decrypter to copy DVD movie to computer hard drive, and remove all the CSS, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs and Sony ARccOS protections This is a freeware application that you can download and install. It is quite good and I have used it to rip a video from a friends DVD disk. Next you you should be able to then burn it to a normal full size disk with a burning program, Nero is popular but expensive and quite heavy in resources use. There are other and some free programs available. Try this if you like, though I haven't as yet, so cannot vouch for how well it works. free dvd copy cd dvd burner audio data shrink dvd - burn4free freeware Most modern full size DVD rewrite drives will take the mini disk as well, though you may also have a cable to transfer from the camera direct which could save the need for a ripper program. It depends a lot on what the output file type is from the camera. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. paulc Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 What type of files did your camcorder save the film in cos you may have to convert them to play on a stand alone dvd player. but if your dvd player play's them all you have to do is join the files togeather. Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 This may all be a bit overcomplicated and based on a lot of assumptions. IF he mini discs play on your your home dvd player, it may require nothing more than copying the movies to a folder on your hard drive and then burning them onto any DVD as a data file. Most computers with a dvd/cd writable drive come with basic burning software. If the mini discs do not play independently then you may need to look into converting the format so that they will.
