Guest Kathy Meegan Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Hello, We don't use roaming profiles. We are testing out using a Windows print server, however, we found out that the Windows printers are dependent on the user profile of the logged in person. So the help desk can't install printers logged in as themselves because when the user logs in the printers aren't there. Is there any way to get around this so that printer installs would be workstation associated and not associated with a particular user? We are also concerned about when a user logs into a workstation other then there own they won't have any printers. Could printers be associated somehow to "All Users" or the workstation so that whoever logs in will get the printers? Thanks for any suggestions! Kathy

In the future I'd suggest microsoft.public.windows.group_policy and microsoft.public.windows.server.scripting - if you want to send to more than one, remember to crosspost (not multipost individual messages).
Guest thomville Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Re: Add Printer to All Users? If you're running Win2203 R2, you can now deploy printers using group policy. I'm not sure if you can do that for a machine or whether it is user specific ... There is also a MS utility called "con2prt" which allows connections to a networked printer from a command line. It is suitable for use in login scripts or batch files. Thom On Mar 26, 12:01 pm, Kathy Meegan <KathyMee...@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > Hello, > > We don't use roaming profiles. Guest Linn Kubler Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Re: Add Printer to All Users? Kathy, This is the method I use to install networked printers. I just created a series of batch files for installing my different printers. Can even do it remotely with the computer name. http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/NetPrinterAllUsers.htm Hope this helps, Linn "Kathy Meegan" <KathyMeegan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:537BCE2E-59F3-4CAB-BD4B-6499FC82CB5B@microsoft.com... > Hello, > > We don't use roaming profiles.
