I am using windows xp and these days it cost a long time to load the windows. Every time I start my computer. About 4 minutes. I didn't install any software except Joy fax software on my computer these days. However, Joyfax Server works OK, and I am sure it doesn't have a virus.

Can any one help??

64 bit edition of XP was always very cluncky when installing drivers and programs, there are not many companies that support the 64bit version of XP, while nearly all of them do for Vista and W7.

Vista and W7 are VERY VERY different from XP.

XP is getting on a bit now and they are dropping support for anything prior to SP3 if your hardware can handle it I would look at upgrading or using 32bit

Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)

Asus P5K premium black pearl

4GB OCZ Reaper 8500

260GTX

I would look to memory (RAM). If you right click MY COMPUTER and go to PROPERTIES, see how much RAM you have installed. What I've been seeing is older machines that came with 512 MB or less of RAM was OK initially. Then SP-3 came out and it seems the 512 MB RAM is not sufficient.

Also listen to your computer to determine if you have excessive hard drive activity. If you have a hard drive activity indicator, check that also. If during the 4 minutes while the comptuer is starting you notice a lot of hard drive activity, that may indicate that you need a RAM upgrade.

When was the last time you cleaned out your temp files?

These can accumulate over time and start to slow down a system.

Try this to clean up your system:

Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

  • Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
  • Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
  • Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

This may make a difference.
