Guest sergei.sheinin@ru.nestle.com Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Hi All, Our Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (SP2) logs this message with an interval of several (5-15) minutes: The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( Heartbeat_Sent ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Heartbeat_Sent. I am not a win admin expert, and (extensive) google research of the above did not turn up much. I was able to get some limited info on the use of AUXSOURCE flag, but no idea what the Heartbeat_Sent source is. Please help. Thanks!
Guest Anthony [MVP] Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Re: Excessive entries in Event Viewer! What happens if you log onto the server and view the event log from there? Or export the event log to a file and read it? Guest Anthony [MVP] Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Re: Excessive entries in Event Viewer! Normally, as I am sure you realise, this error description happens when you view the error from a machine that does not have the software installed to decode the error message. If you see this message while logged on to the server itself, it can happen if the software is not installed correctly, or has been uninstalled incorrectly, or is just plain faulty. Do you know what software you have that is using a heartbeat to maintain a connection? Some sort of clustering or replication?
