eniacap Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 There is no indication in the instructions for my PC (WinXP Home) on burning DVDs even though Nero software is pre installed. I don't know whether I should purchase blank DVD - R or DVD + R in order to burn a movie which could be played on a dvd player & TV set. My son tells me that his player will play DVD - R but will my computer burn DVD - R? I have the movie on the PC hard drive so no ripping issues. Thanks eniacap Quote
eniacap Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 PS: In system>device manager I find the Dvd player/recorder is a SONY DVD RW DW-G120A. But I still have no indication of which video format blank discs to buy Dvd - R or Dvd + R. Quote
lodzinski Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 i know my dvd player will play either format, and it should say on the front of your burners drive tray what format it records in. Quote
Jamey Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 The Sony burner drive you have is a dual format and dual layer drive; it will burn both formats, so just purchase some DVD-R discs if you want to burn discs able to be read in your son's DVD player. I recommend firing up the Nero software, it is usually quite straightforward as to what you must do. Quote
eniacap Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 On the drive drawer it just says DVD RW, so no help there. Thanks for that info Jamey. I shall buy some blank DVD - R and burn away safe in the knowledge that the Sony will cope with any format. eniacap Quote
