i have a packard bell iXtreme X9610

4gb ram

intel core quad processor

and im running 64 bit windows

(im giving all this info because i dont know what the problem is)

recently when i press the on button, the light will come on for about a second and then go off

when i press the button the fan also starts but stops like the light.

ive put it in this psu forum because i read a similar problem online saying his psu was dying.

after speaking to a family friend he said he thought a psu would just go 'boom'.

also on the other forum i mentioned before, there was no reply saying what he did or if it worked

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right - are you overclocking anything at all?

First point of call would be to pop the CMOS battery out (while the PC is off, so you dont get any shocks ) for 30 seconds and then reinsert it and power the PC up - does it still do the same?

next would be have you changed anything from the time before it used to boot normally?
