dmtparker Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I have a Compaq Presario F700 that I "rolled back" to Windows XP. (Actually I ran Linux for quite a while, then went to XP for reasons too long to explain.) Now I can read and write CDs and read DVDs, but not write them. (Note drive wrote DVDs just fine under Linux) I assume I need a different driver, but everything I find seems to deal with problems under Vista. My drive is identified as: HL-DT-STDVDRAM GSA-T20L ( NC08) Thanks! (I originally posted this as a reply to another thread - SORRY! (I'm a newbie to this forum) Quote
RandyL Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 What are you using to write to DVD? You need software like Nero or Roxio. Windows XP has the capability to write to CD but not DVD. Windows Vista or Windows 7 does have a native DVD burning ability. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. dmtparker Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Solved Windows XP has the capability to write to CD but not DVD Ya, I'm stupid. I assumed that since I could just drag and drop with Linux, I could with XP too. Never dawned on me I needed additional software. Oh well, nothing wrong with the DVD burner. I just used Nero and made a DVD, no problem. Thanks Quote
RandyL Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 You're welcome. I could see why it's easy to make that mistake. Glad you got it sorted. Quote We are all members helping other members.
