I know that there are three types of banning in the forums are:

1- banned by IP

2- banned by account

3- banned by MAC address

My question is about banned by IP

If I have a home network (router and 3 computers)If a site Prevent one computers. Prevention will be to All in a home network.

In one word "Correct"

If you get banned from a site by IP then it will block all connections coming from your router.

in this case if it wasn't you that broke the rules to get the Ban you would have to email the site owner or Admin apologising and assuring them that the offending person will not be making the same mistake's.

Their are ways around it :D but I wouldn't be popular if I told you how.

To add to what Match has said:

I have just banned a member on another forum.

In doing so another member with the same IP Address was highlighted.

The second member was automatically banned - as the IP Address was the same.

There is no way of knowing if it is the same person or two people.

I not only ban the IP Address but the email address and the login name too.

It is unfortunate if you share a router with somebody who does not use forum etiquette.

reboot your router - isp's nearly always give a dynamic ip.every router reboot gives you a new wan ip

you can sign up to your forum again on a different email addy

That is far from accurate. Perhaps some ISP change dynamic IP's often but most do not. I have the ability to check my own IP history on another forum where I have access to administrative controls. Despite changing routers, and resetting my modem on several occasions my dynamic IP is exactly the same today as it was a year ago. Second, unless you have a combination Modem and Router, resetting the router alone will never change your IP. Only resetting the modem may have that effect.

Finally, banning an IP on any forum is a pretty drastic step. It is usually reserved for serial spammers since there are many legitimate reasons to share an IP. You are either victim of an overzealous administrator or there is something more to this.

Try joining a similar type forum using the same IP but a different user name and see what, if anything, happens.

I am not offended and do not work for an ISP. I have a cable connection and despite many changes my IP has remained the same.

The greater issue to me was the banning of a specific IP. It is done and I have done it but the circumstances really need to be extreme. If you banned certain IPs in Britain half of all AOL users would disappear. :)
