Wondering if it's not just as easy to send yourself an Email, and leave the message you wish the user to see.

Another Option, Kay, would be to leave a sticky Note on the Desktop.

If you are using a server then yes you can send messages to users, if its a home PC, you would need to use a piece of software, I am sure that someone out there would have done software for this at some point

No Kay.Please read your initial post.

You said you were NOT on a Network, and now you are asking about an office environment.

I am confused.

Further,if it is an office environment, you would be better consulting your IT guy,on what you can and can't do.

Kay, are you administrator of this computer? or just one of the users? If administrator, you should be able to access all other users accounts any way unless there are password protection issues where you don't know those passwords. Which of course we can't help with.

I don't know that sticky notes software, but I am assuming it only needs to be installed in your account for it to display the messages to other users.

I hope you come back again for a look Kay as I think I may have found a way to do it, however not having multiple users I can't check it works.

Anyway see if this will work, first you need to open the task manager, an easy way is click start, then in the "Run" box type or copy and paste -

taskmgr

When the window opens click on the "users" tab, next select which user you want to send your message to, then click the "send message" on the bottom right.

As I say I can't go further to check as there is only the one user, me.

Let us know if that works.

Hi, I had time to set up a temporary second account so I could try it, and yes it does work, the message is displayed as soon as the other user logs on.

Oh dear, I wonder if they have to be logged on first? Is it possible for you to log into their account, just to at least activate it, or not?

I will check that in about an hour or so.

Hi, sorry about this but it does appear that the other users have to be logged on. Not only that, if they log off, or you log them off, the message is lost. I thought it seemed to good to be true when I discovered it.

However if the machine can be left on and all users logged on but not active, the system will work.

Otherwise it is back to the drawing board.

The only way I can see left now, is providing all users have internet access and an E Mail account, is to send them E Mails
