Problem Comes Up After Updating

Recommended Posts

I am working on WinXP Pro (SP2). Day before yesterday, I updated my

computer by navigating to Tools--->Windows Update in IE6. The updation

was successful but strangely after that the software I use for

connecting to the Net no longer opens up.

When the software opens it shows a screen saying "Launching..." after

which I am supposed to enter my username & password but now, the

"Launching..." screen comes up for around 2 seconds after which it

disappears i.e. the next screen to enter username & password does not

show up.

I decided to uninstall the updates which were installed day before

yesterday from the Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs) but the updates

that were installed day before yesterday aren't listed in the Add/

Remove Programs applet.

Can someone please suggest me a workaround to this problem?

The software vendor couldn't resolve the problem.

I had installed Visual Studio.NET day before yesterday as well & just

now realized that it was the culprit. I uninstalled VS.NET & the

software is running now.

BTW the mysterious software is called Sify (an ISP well known in

India) to connect to the Internet.

Thanks,

Ron

Can you connect to your ISP without any software? What type of connection is

it?

A rule that I have is to not use any special software to connect out, they

just add another unnecessary layer to connect through.
