Hi all, I use IE8 with Vista. I downloaded a file to 'Temporary Folder' had no choice. The 'open folder' window disappeared after the download. I cannot find the file or the 'Temporary Folder'. I've searched all the temp folders with no luck as well as searching the computer for an hour.. Any ideas would be welcome, it's a mystery to me, regards Frank:confused:

Have you searched for the file name or for the file extension?

Hi , Thanks for your suggestion. I have tried using the file name and the extension, but no luck. Is it possible the file was loaded into RAM, hence can't find it ? regards Frank

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Electric. :)

There could be several reasons for this. Firstly, I hate to tell you but such behaviour is usually exhibited by malware. If it is that, then you must have already started facing a few uncommon symptoms like a slow computer, pop-ups, lags, etc. If that is not the case, then I expect that the Temporary Files folder was cleared somehow taking the file with it.

Can you tell us what file you downloaded? If you cannot, then have you tried redownloading the file and saving it instead of opening?

Let us know the answers as soon as possible. :)
