Guest rod Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Say I have 10,000 files sitting in dedicated folders that accomodate 30 files, one for each day. The curly bit, is they have brevity in their current name and are only identified by their "modified Date" for example 2104.zip will be recognised 12 times one for each year since 1996 that is 2104.zip modified say 22nd april 1998 2104.zip modified say 24th april 2001 etc. How may I rename them, so that the zip will still activate yet I can fit them in 1 file (so that 2104.zip 1998 does not get overwritten by 2104.zip 2001)
Guest Fan924 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Re: Renaming files. http://www.1-4a.com/rename/rename-features.htm I have been looking at this for some image files but have not tried it yet. Let me know if it is any good.
Guest rod Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Re: Renaming files. I am really after what members would think the ideal renaming style would be. For archive I was putting the date before the file eg: 20040302wopr.zip However the program that seeks and melts the zip naturally defaults I got rid of the majority of the dated using this renamer (free) I found it excellent http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php "Fan924" <a924fan@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:d6ac9e37-4d80-48bc-adb6-a5d21967f797@s19g2000prg.googlegroups.com... > http://www.1-4a.com/rename/rename-features.htm > > I have been looking at this for some image files but have not tried it > yet. Guest rod Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Re: Renaming files. Nah! no such thing as wrong, one expression is just less correct than another. the files ar like a dog's breakfast, they're in folders, pers backups, copied folders, you name it. With Agent coalsack I just set the modified date run the utility select the appropriate files and dump 'em That suits my expertise, after all I think I belong to the species that last stood upright.
