Windows XP Service Pack 3 RC Issue :: Logging on to system

Hello,

So, I've got this really weird issue when I log onto my laptop. I upgraded a

little while back, to the release candidate of XP SP3, just to see how it

would work out. I've been able to reproduce this problem pretty easily, too,

so I'm wondering if anyone else has it.

The problem is: When booting up the system, the logon screen comes up pretty

quickly. Typically, this would be a good thing, indicating that your system

is booting up quickly, however, when I do type my credentials, and hit ok

quickly, the system appears to be logging on, but then shows the "Applying

computer settings", and after that completes, it kicks me back to the login

prompt.

Let me reiterate this problem as a series of steps.

1. Logon prompt is displayed

2. I type my credentials, and hit ok, quickly, just after the prompt is

displayed

3. I see the "Applying computer settings" window (rather than the "Applying

your personal settings" window)

4. After several seconds of loading, I get kicked back to the login prompt.

----

So, there you have it. If anyone has seen this before, I'd be curious to

know if there is a resolution to the problem.

Thanks,

Please post this to the correct newsgroup, as SP3 has NOT been

officially released yet.

There is no SP3 beta newsgroup anymore. It closed a month ago. There is

only the forum Daave gives.
