Guest Spin Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Gurus, In troubleshooting for MS support recently on a case I opened with them, I was told to disable tcp chimney (since I was running Windows Server 2003 SP2) prior to capturing a netmon trace. I am not sure why I had to disable tcp chimney prior to capturing a netmon trace let alone what tcp chimney even is. Any ideas? -- Spin

Did you read some of the info about TCP Chimney in the SNP overview? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912222 Or how about the White Paper if you're really bored? http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/b/5/5b5bec17-ea71-4653-9539-204a672f11cf/TCP_Chimney.doc The offloading off Chimney could skew results, I would guess, when tracing. It might help to determine the *why* part of networking or loads when it is disabled. Just a hunch. - Thee Chicago Wolf
