Hi all,

I have Vista SP1 and the ts client version is 6.0.6001.18000. We have

windows 2003 SP2 terminal server. But, I can not see my local printers and

network printers on my ts session. (I do have map printer option enabled)

Which version do I need to see the printers in the ts session? Anything

missing?

Thank you.

Re: Terminal printer issue

This has nothing to do with the version of the rdp client, since

printer redirection is supported from version 5.x and above.

Have you checked the EventLog on the Terminal Server? I will most

likely show an Event at the time you connect to the TS with the

reason for not redirecting your printers. A missing printer driver is

the most likely cause.

Re: Terminal printer issue

Vera,

Thanks for your reply and help. It's the driver issue. I got event ID 1111

in the log:

By following KB 239088, do I have to change the registry key and create the

custom inf? Can the system automatically look for the default one

ntprint.inf? Another interesting thing, after I run the redirection wizard

from the downloaded package, I do not have ntprintsubs.inf anymore and

changed to ntprint.inf? Which inf file should I change?

Thanks for your great help!

Re: Terminal printer issue

If you use the redirection wizard, you don't have to make the

changes by hand, because that's what the wizard does for you. You

can open the ntprint.inf file in notepad and search for the line

which (presumably) now maps your printer to a native printer.

The only disadvantage of making changes to the default ntprint.inf

file, as opposed to creating an additional custom ntprintsubs.inf

file is that the ntprint.inf file might be overwritten by a

software update, and it will be more difficult to see at a glance

which customizations you made.
