Guest dippy_x@hotmail.com Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I have a client who has a number of HP Laserjet 4250 DTN printers. Their using a 2003 R2 server as a print server and have this peculiar problem where by everytime a user wants to adjust a setting on the print driver (choose a different paper type or paper tray) the driver is downloaded from the print server to the client machine generating the following event log: Event Type: Warning Event Source: Print Event Category: None Event ID: 20 Date: 04/04/2008 Time: 12:56:16 User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: PCXXX Description: Printer Driver HP LaserJet 4250 PCL 5e for Windows NT x86 Version-3 was added or updated. Files:- UNIDRV.DLL, hpzpi4wm.DLL, HPC42505.GPD, UNIDRV.HLP, hplj4x50.CFG, hpc4x505.gpd, hpzsc4wm.dtd, hpzui4wm.DLL, hpzpe4wm.DLL, hpcdmc32.DLL, hpbcfgre.DLL, hpz5r4wm.DLL, HPBMIAPI.DLL, HPBOID.DLL, HPBOIDPS.DLL, HPBPRO.DLL, HPBPROPS.DLL, HPZIPM12.DLL, HPZINW12.DLL, HPZIPT12.DLL, HPZIPR12.DLL, HPZISN12.DLL, HPZIDR12.DLL, HPNRA.EXE, HPBNRAC2.DLL, HPBMINI.DLL, hpceac06.hpi, HPJCMN2U.DLL, HPJIPX1U.DLL, hpzsm4wm.gpd, hpzst4wm.DLL, hpc4250b.ini, hpc42505.xml, hpzev4wm.DLL, HPZHL4wm.CAB, STDNAMES.GPD, hpzls4wm.DLL, hpzss4wm.DLL, hpz3c4wm.dll, hpzur4wm.dll, hpzpnp.dll, UNIRES.DLL, UNIDRVUI.DLL. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. The event log itself is not the problem, but the delay in re- downloading the driver causes a long pause in printing. If we set the client machines up with the exact same driver installed as a local printer and get them to print via a tcp/ip port there are no issues at all. If the users try to print from the print server without modifying any driver settings (a straight file -> print) there is no pause either. I have tried PS, PCL5 and PCL6 driver and still get the same problems. I have also tried clearing down all of the print drivers from the client machines and the print server and re-installing again but still seem to get this same issue occuring. I have contacted HP about this issue, and as far as they are concerned, if the printer drivers works when installed locally there is no driver issue. Anyone ever come across something similar? Thanks
