Hi, I need some help figuring out if this new video card is compatible or not. The card I want to switch to might be an Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT or 9600 Some basic information about my computer would be:

Processor: Intel Core Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.2 GHz 2.2 GHz

RAM: 2GB

32 bit OS

I'm running Vista Home Premium

Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS

I ran a 8500 GT before as well and that worked much better.

139 GB Internal Hard Drive

Also, I will be using the computer for gaming, so any advice on cards is welcome if you're particularly smart when it comes to video cards, I know I'm not. :D

Hi,

We need to know what MOBO (Motherboard) you have.

As a rule of thumb for Nvidia cards the first number is the series of the card and the higher you go the better they are :)

Any PCI-E card will be fine as long as your PSU can output the power. (and it has the connections 6pin PCI-E, or a 2x molex to 6pin PCI which often come in the new GPU box) just make sure if you use this method that you have no fan 'passthrough' cables attached.

the biggest factor when buying a new GPU is the monitor, as in what resolution you plan on gaming at, as even some mid level cards would be overkill for a 20-22'' monitor
