Hi,

I have a domain controller installed with some softwares. I am planning to

put another server dedicated to Terminal Server. How can I configure this

dedicated terminal server to publish my applications which are installed on

the domain controller...Please guide me.

Regards.

Re: Domain Controller - Terminal Server

If the applications can be run from a file server, you would do it

exactly like you would do it from an XP client, create a shortcut

like:

\\server\app_share\my_app.exe

If the application cannot be run from a file server, then you will

have to install it on the TS itself. This is the preferred method,

because it will load faster and not cause unneccessary network

traffic.

Re: Domain Controller - Terminal Server

Dear Vera,

Thanks for the response.

But, my question is, where should I mention this "\\server\app_share\my_app.

exe" for the user ? In the Environment Tab ?

Regards.

Re: Domain Controller - Terminal Server

The easiest way would be to create a shortcut to the network

application on the All Users Desktop, or in the All Users start

menu, just like you would do if you wanted to run the application

on your local XP client.

Re: Domain Controller - Terminal Server

Dear Vera,

Terminal Server will render in application mode not as FULL desktop.

I have a windows server 2003 (Domain Controller) installed with my

application. Now, I plan to add a dedicated terminal server (hopefully

windows server 2008) and wish to publish my application on the domain

controller in application mode to the end user. Hope I made you clear on my

requirement. Please suggest solution and steps.

Regards.

Re: Domain Controller - Terminal Server

I'm not sure on W2008, but on a 2003 TS, you would define the

starting application with the properties that I gave for the

shortcut.
